We will also show you what can be done if you find that Google is displaying wrong Sitelinks. Question: What are Sitelinks? Answer: If you go to Google's homepage and perform a search you may notice that Google sometimes shows links below the website listing, these links are known as Sitelinks. ![]() Question: What is the purpose of Sitelinks? Answer: Sitelinks are generated by Google to help users find useful pages of your website. Question: Can I choose my own Sitelinks? Answer: No, Sitelinks are randomly chosen by Google. Question: What can be done to get Google to assign Sitelinks to my website? Answer: Google shows Sitelinks on high ranking websites. Make sure that your website has high search engine rankings and use clear anchor text links and alt text on your homepage to your important pages within your site. Google tends to assign Sitelinks to pages that are often linked too or visited. Question: How can I check if Google has given my website Sitelinks? Answer: Go to Google Webmaster tools and add your website, its free and only takes a few minutes to add and verify your website. (You may need FTP access to complete this) Once you have added your website you will need to give Google time to crawl your site. Login to Webmaster Tools, click on your website URL, you will see a link “Site Configuration”. You will find a link to “Sitelinks”.
